Boris CC
Posted by Bob Vick on January 5, 2007 at 6:37 pmMy Boris cc effects are not loading correctly. I can place an effect on a clip but when I open the effect, it shows no paramenters at all. A lot of crap after the crossgrade. Should I reload the Boris filters or is there an issue with the crossgrade and Boris?
5.1.2 10.4.8 Boris 4.0.1

Follow the instructions EXACTLY for installing the Boris CC plug-ins. Most of them require you to have the CAPS LOCK down when you launch FCP the first time after you install. Then quit FCP, then restart. If you don’t, then you get the blank control panels.

January 5, 2007 at 6:48 pmI thought I did that correctly buy maybe not. I will try it again. Will I need to reload fromt he FCP update dvds? BTW Is Caps lock down mean it’s all caps or the caps light is on?

January 5, 2007 at 7:12 pmWe have to repeatedly reinstall the BCC 4 filters. They will all work fine for a few days and then bam, no options again. It only takes about five minutes to do the reinstall, restart, cap lock, restart again, but it’s a major pain. We’re probably going to buy the fxFactoryPro suite which is similar to BCC. It’s built on Apples new plugin architecture, so we won’t be getting these BCC problems on every upgrade.

January 5, 2007 at 7:17 pmAnd if it happens, you have to delete the cache, do the caps lock routine again, and then yo should be good. Read the instructions to the letter, including how you have to work with clips that have boris filters on them. Be sure when you open a clip in the browser form the timeline, the the CTI is parked on that clip, otherwise it’s trash the cache and caps lock.

That’s bizarre. We haven’t seen anything like that here. Once they were installed, they work fine on all three systems.

January 5, 2007 at 7:25 pmI’ve been having this same problem and have been pulling my hair out for the last two days! I’ve followed the instructions as close to the letter as I know how – CAPS lock down and then up and all that jazz – but I’m having no success getting my filters to work correctly. By the way – I know this reveals extreme ignorance on my part, but what in the world is a CTI? I’ve been assuming they mean “playhead”, but I can’t find CTI anywhere in the FCP manual.
I’m at a loss…

January 5, 2007 at 7:34 pmSorry, must be an old school term left over from Media 100 or something. CTI = Current Time Indicator. In more modern terms = playhead.
Did you trash the cache?

January 5, 2007 at 8:40 pmYeah, trashed the cache, and ran the patch. I know I ran the right patch for Red, I’m not sure if I ran the right one for BCC3 or not; neither one is working…
Thanks for the CTI definition! I was really stumped. I guess you can tell I haven’t been around since the old days…
