Don is right. The file Aberdeen gives you will be the same length as your entire timeline (plus a little extra at the end possibly). Place it above all other layers of video, sync it with the beginning of your timeline (line up the beginning of Aberdeen’s file with the starting point of the export you gave to them), and crop the bottom of Aberdeen’s video 99%. Then, you’re good to go.

    You may need to render.

    Hey Ben,

I tried to send you an e-mail to the address I got from your company’s website. I sent an e-mail with a copy of this thread to Medea with a request that it be forwarded to Dan DeBruno, inviting him to respond either to my e-mail or this thread. I’ll let you know if I hear anything.

    Alright, here’s the info…

    The VideoRaid is a VideoRaid 10/1600 RT3X
    The firmware revision is 1.07
The SCSI card is in slot 3
We don’t have an AJA card, we use the exteral IO which just plugs into the FW400 port.

I appreciate any help you can give. Thanks!

No… I’m not having any problems with it – I just thought I had read lots of material about needing an extra firewire card. It apparently seems to be working fine though. Thanks for the answers!

Yes, I do have a network connection, but I’ve always had a network connection, and I don’t think that FCP should be dealing with the network when it’s launching – I believe it’s independent. Thanks for the thought though.

Unfortunately it’s not project-file related, it takes forever when it’s launching “clean” – with no project file to open. Good thought though.

Well, gentlemen, looks like I’ll just brush up on my chess skills or something…

I’ll give it a shot! Er, I hate to display my utter ignorance, but what do I do to do this?

  • I may be missing some complexity here, but shift-N will make a freeze-frame for you, then edit it into the timeline like any other clip. The manuals are our friends…
