We use the MacCaption software – it seems to work well for us. It took us a little while to get the workflow down, and you’ve got to schedule in plenty of time for captioning now, but the results have been satisfactory.

Yes… I was unaware until you asked… If I throw a Boris filter on there it will link over, but the Boris transition will not. Actually (I hate to say it) I just got the Boris transition link to work once – putting the 2nd clip on the track above, but I tried it again further down the pike with different clips and no go. The randomness makes me think there might be a corrupt file somewhere? Prefs have been trashed many a time…

Ah, a good point indeed – and I take no offense. The answer is yes, the scrubber is on the transition point while the link still fails to work.

    Good thought though.

Ah, ok… this is interesting. I’ll bet it has to do with the warm up time, as you say. Yes, they’re battery-backup APCs.

Well… I don’t know all the most efficient ways to do things, but for one:

Modify an existing dissolve, drag THAT dissolve to your browser (your project tab, not your effects tab), right-click it in the browser (or cntrl-click if only a 1-button mouse), choose “set as default transition”. Walah! Hope that helps.

So this yak… he had me worried – for I couldn’t find his software anywhere I looked. Is he not taking up unnecessary system power (granted, not a lot, but what’s he doing here?). Can I get rid of him? Do I need to worry about him?

I’ve found that you can sometimes get things to sit still by adding an extra filter to the clip. It seems to act rather like and extra “layer” to hold it in place and keep it from moving around. Shouldn’t have to do this of course… I’ve used the stop motion blur filter for this purpose – does absolutely nothing to the graphic but provides an extra layer of onion skin to keep things from fluttering around.

November 1, 2005 at 5:07 pm in reply to: Help. Slight sqeeze on dissolves???

I have had a similar problem!! (I also use the AJA IO.) Incredibly frustrating I can sympathize… I had a slight stretch instead of a squeeze whenever I would use a cover shot. I never really found a way around it – some of these other guys’ suggestions may work. The way I worked around for the moment was to go in to the motion tab and change the size 0.05% or 0.02% smaller (although I realize this problem is different than yours – so this info is probably not that helpful).
Anyway… trash your prefs, render everything, and mixdown your audio… perhaps that shotgun approach will help.

Thanks guys, I’ll play around with it.
