…..lthough you are “importing” the edl in FCp, not “opening” it in FCP…….
ie use the import edl function.

Hi Tom,
you really need to let us know what you will be doing with the deck, in terms of connecting it to the computer. Basically the price difference is entirely due to the input/outputs. Sony are industry standard. The DSR11 is around -

November 1, 2005 at 1:53 pm in reply to: Final Cut Pro – Edit to tape accuracy – does it exist?Hi
I use AJA IO to edit to tape, and apart from a few teething problems concerning frame inaccuracies to start with, it is now frame accurate every time, insert and assemble. I play to tape 3 or 4 times a month.Make sure you have the latest aja drivers. The new ones have been 100% for me. The playback offset in device control should be 5 with the latest drivers. Then treat the system like a child when you ETT. Dont have overlapping windows. Try not to have more than one sequence open. Keep the memory usage down to little as possible so FCP is concentrating entirely on the ETT. This might be just superstition, but it works for me…..
by the way this is for FCP4.5, not sure about FCP5.
feel free to let me know if you want more details.
best wishesNIck

I would agree with Lee. DV25 is more than enough to offline with. Honestly, you can almost online with it if it wasnt for graphics and effects….
You can however recapture just video. Once you have created a new project with media manager, with your final media, highlight every clip and select the tracks menu. This will allow you to change all the clips at once from v1, a2, to just v1. YOu can do one at a time al well.

We use both an avid version 7 and FCP with the AJA IO, and both do thier job without fault (although i have to say the version 7 is SO solid… never ever had a problem…, but prefer working on a fcp). The only reservation you need to know about the AJA is the 4 frame lag, due to its firewire connection. It is well documented in this forum, and most/some people dont mind it, but if you are used to having the computer monitors/broadcast monitor and the speakers exactly in sync all the time the aja IO isnt for you. Get a pci card like the AJA kona or a decklink card and you will have a much more similar system to the version 7.
Enjoy the ease of fcp…..

You can also:
press return on your nested clip. This will open it up in the viewer. Then in the distort settings change the aspect to -33.33 ( i think that is the correct number. It either that or 33.33, or 0)

This also happens when capturing via firewire. Apparently in the audio settings, the speaker needs to be turned off, otherwise you get these clicks and pops. Although it doesnt seem to matter if the speaker is on or off for me…..

How about a large timecode window, a la Avid. With the ability to see source timecode, timeline timecode etc.. My clients are always complaining about sore eyes from looking for the incy wincy timcode on the viewer/canvas.
Its the little things……
