I’m running FCP 4.5 on a dual 1.8 G5 and pulling in video thru the component in’s of an Aja IO. I’m doing a project in anamorphic 16:9 . I’ve been nesting the anamorphic sequence into a 4:3 sequence to play it out to tape letterboxed. I have since put together a second anamorphic sequence using the same video clips, but I can’t get that one to play back letterboxed in my 4:3 timeline. The two anamorphic sequences are now nested one after the other on the 4:3 timeline, one is letterboxed and the other is the anamorphic stretch. It sure looks like the the settings for the two anamorphic sequences are identical, so what am I missing?

Try deleting the second clip out of the editing timeline.
Go back to the bin where you imported it.
Check its properties. Put a check next to anamorphic.
Then drag it into the timeline.
If you just try to change the anamorphic property while it’s
still in the original timeline you will not see a change.

    Hope this helps.

    You can also:

press return on your nested clip. This will open it up in the viewer. Then in the distort settings change the aspect to -33.33 ( i think that is the correct number. It either that or 33.33, or 0)
