i know this isn’t really a FCP question but i am in desperate need of advice on buying a vtr deck. I need a good quality deck with capabilities to play mini DV and possibly DVCAM tapes.
Ive searched the internet and tried to do my research but i cant figure out what seperates the the 4,000 and 20,000 price range.
Also i am finding it hard to find somewhere to purchase one and/or look up prices of specific models so any pointers on where to look (preferably UK) would be fantastic.

    thank you in advance.

    Tom

Do a SEARCH POSTS here and on the Sony DV Forum for “Sony DSR-11” or “Sony DSR11”.

It is NTSC or PAL (deck will work in either format, but will not “convert” from one to the other), miniDV or Full Size DV tapes without adapter, and records and plays DV SP or DVCAM with FireWire control.

It is very affordable ($1450-$1650 USD) and is a reliable workhorse in edit bays world-wide.

    Hi Tom,
you really need to let us know what you will be doing with the deck, in terms of connecting it to the computer. Basically the price difference is entirely due to the input/outputs. Sony are industry standard. The DSR11 is around
