i had no issues installing FCP4.5 on Tiger.
1-Cloned drive,
2-Erase and install Tiger.
3-installed FCP 4.0 (etc), then 4.5.
4-migrated my settings etc (not apps) back from the clone.maybe 3+4 were the other way?

FCP needs ot be directly in hte Applications filder, not within anohter folder, otherwise the installer cant see it.
also, it needs ot be labled Final Cut Pro, with no numbers on hte end.

ah yes.. zoom to playhead!
a long cherished dream of all fcp editors!
but in reality, you dont zoom to playhead, you can only zoom to selection.
one of the many comands in FCP where selection takes precedent.
but once youve zoomed into a selected clip, and you want to egt to hte playhead, it’s really simple:
you just nuge the playghead forward one frame, and FCP wakes up to itself, and takes you to it.
i use the left /right arrows to nudge/move a frame at a time.
if the frame you plarked on was crucial, then go left arrow, right arrow, to jog FCP into place, and to wind up back on the frame.oh, yes, you should de-select, too, before you go to far.
That;s Shift Apple A ( the opposite of apple A for select all)
(i re-map to Apple D for De-select)i do this so often, ive kind of forgotten about wanting “zoom to playhead”

which colours get rendered when you hit cettain render commands are spcified by you under the “sequnce” menu.

I;ve used FCP to edit sound tracks for films ive cut, it;s fine.
these were dial / fx / music jobs
a little bit cludgy-er than ProTools, which im also familar with, but if you know it, go right ahead.now, i’m talking about EDITING, here, not so much processing, or adding FX.
for that STP looks great, or hey, remember mixers? that;s what they’re for!nick

here’s some things you can do:
in the browser, give your VO’s a reel#. theat might stop them from slipping around.
in fact make sure everythiing has a reel# (still images wont need this)(hard to fathom how every clip could start early and end late without being timecompressed 🙂 but i get the idea, i think)
as for “locking in” your speed change shots, if you can put the same shot in hte timeline WITHOUT the speed change, then that seems to help.
here’s one way: locate your speed change shots, matchframe them into hte viewer, where they wont have any effect, but they will have the correct in/outs.
edit back into a new track (with visibility turned off) directly above the speed change version.yes it;s a drag, and i agree, it would be great if wee didnt have to do these work-arounds.
speed changes in MM have suposedly been fixed in FCP5.cheers,

as for 6….
for a long time i;ve been working with my sequnces in a “Sequnces” bin.
keeps things neat.
Apple C on my curent seq copies it, and Apple V pastes it outside the bin.
rename the original.
if you like to work with e erything ecrywhere, then Apple C to copy, rename the original, then pastenick

yeah, i see what you mean..
i select all the transistions, and Option 2 to center, but it only happens to the one on V1.how about you lasso them all with the group tool, and add half the duration of the trans?
that’ll have the same effect, i thinkanother aproach which would be good if you have more to create, though:
center ONE trans, double click to open in the viewer,
(or double click a trans from the effects browser, and center it)
then drag to the favourites bin in the effects tab of the browser.
control click on that trans, and chose “Make default”now ANY trans you add will be centered on the cut.
