just thought i;d update what i said about availability of the HD connect.
from their letter to me:
“We’re shipping demo units this week and will start to fulfill orders in January.”

taking on board everything, my feeling is that without hardware conversion, the best route might be to get DVCProHD dubs of the HDV tapes.
maybe not the cheapest option, but a solid one.

oh, yes, somebody in a post below talks about a corrupt sequence.
this could, be the case here,

so copy all in your timeline,
make a new seq,
and paste into there.

normal behaviour might return.

try this first, it;s easier.

that shouldn’t be happening, Mike.

SHIFT Delete is the “Ripple Delete” key combo.
Delete on it;s own should do what you want: remove the section and leave a gap.

Maybe check your keyboard layout,
but most likely this is a case where trashing preffs is in order.

maybe a corruption in your waveform cache?

check your system prefs to see where the location is

then go there and delete it.

ALL your waveforms will have to be re-drawn, though.
not a real big deal, fortunately

you could maybe move it first.
see if that works.

maybe try a different dub house first.

i’ve seen transfers where i could only tell the difference by looking real hard.

also do an experiment.
try your workflow, see if it works, and if it flows.
dont forget with your system i imagine you need to conform to 23.98, not 24.

hi, violet.

1) that;s right, then you;d need some other device to capture the signal. like a card, or a DV converter box.

2) try the “TC Reader” filter. that’l do what you want.

3) qttimecode doesn’t involve rendering.
“remove timecode track” is a function in qttimecode

a couple of ways:

– digitise the analogue output of your camera/deck, with TC display turned on.

– capture the clips,
drop FCP’s TC Print filter on them,
export
(will take a while, as it renders the clips)

– there is an Apple Developer App called qttimecode.

it can display the files TC.
bad news: says it;s for QT5, and i cant get it to work in QT7. 🙁

no wait, i can, but you have to remove the TC track first, then add it back, and manually enter the TC.

that doesn’t happen for me.

when you go to re-capture, do you have the “Use Logged Clips Settings” box ticked?
you should

other time-saving techniques for re-logging:

drag the logged clip into the Log & Capture window.
all relevant info goes there,
change the Clip settings, and re-log.

export a batch list,
change the tracks and audio columns in a spread-sheet app, like Excel.
re-import.

maybe trash your prefs??

you have to take the clips offline first.

then you can change the “Tracks” and “Audio” settings.
