i havent tried the converters.

in fact the Convergent box isn’t even shipping yet, so i think think that was a bum lead, unless you want to wait for January.

the Miranda works the same: HDV in via FW, HD-SDI out.
Machine control is ALSO via the camera/deck FW port (Cam > Miranda, then RS422 Miranda > Kona card)

i havent seen the results, but it makes sense to me that this path would look better than going component.

a tech guy i was talking to said the miranda had limited frame rates, but that could mean no 25 or 50 for us PAL users?

i’m just checking the Miranda’s “compatibility chart” pdf, and it says there are “Major Bug Issues” between the box and FCP 5.02
specifically:
“The Timecode is jumpy with wrong values when exporting to HDV in 50Hz and 60Hz”
but you are exporting to HD-SDI, so maybe you’ll be ok?

i think you should start talking direct to the companies.
Convergent maybe able to help you out with a pre-release version,
Miranda may be able to clear up what they mean with the “Major Bug Issue”

again, i say check out the converter boxes: Miranda, and Convergent.

The Convergent Design HD-Connect turns an HDV FW signal to HD.
it also converts RS422 (from the card/computer) to FW control (on the camera end).

i havent looked that closely into the Miranda option, but i imagine it does the same.

i havent read ALL hte posts in htis trhtread,

so sory if this has already been covered:

there are a few new boxes that will convert a FW HDV signal to an HD signal.
(we will be using one of these later in the year)

go to system prefs > keyboard & mouse > keyboard shortcuts.

there you can turn off the system’s shortcuts that conflict with FCP’s

well keep looking!

if you cant find it, maybe it’s not showing.
control click on the head of any column,
there will be a list of un-shown columns,
find “tracks” and show it.

i would have thought what you;re doing would work.

it used to work in earlier versions (BTW, you didn’t tell us what version you are on)

do this instead:

make any captured files offline

in FCP5:
select all clips,
control click,
choose “clip settings”
the clip settings window opens, and you chose audio & video, and your audio format – the 2 rings icon sets stereo (rings linked) or Ch1+Ch2 (rings un-linked)

in FCP less than 5:
select the clips,
find the “tracks” column in the browser,
control click in there, and choose 1V, 2A
fond the “audio” column
control click, and choose Stereo or Ch1+Ch2

then capture away.

sorry, but no,

you cant copy keyframes in FCP.

a slightly different approach would be to keyframe your start position,
then your hold position.
then add another keyframe to begin the second part of the move, then add your final keyframe.

i;’d say it’s definitely a by-product of the XML interchange.

you can globally change all the clips if they are in a TIMELINE.
select all, and Control . (full stop)

Control , = Pan Left
Control . = Pan Centre
Control / = Pan Right

the same controls will work in the viewer,
and even though it;s a one-at-a-time situation,
it;s still quicker than re-setting the slider, or tabbing to the pan filed and typing in 0.
