Am I missing something, or is every single copy of FCP installed not able to use CNTL + F8 by default? Seems like there are a couple of other hardcoded OS X shortcuts that must be re-assigned to be used as well. Dashboard and Expose can be re-assigned in the OS but I could not find a way to re-assign Menu Extras (Control + F8), Menu Bar (Control + F2) and Dock (Control + F3) all of which are FCP shortcuts by default.

go to system prefs > keyboard & mouse > keyboard shortcuts.

there you can turn off the system’s shortcuts that conflict with FCP’s

    cheers,

Sweet. Thanks Nick. I had been there before but had forgot all about it.

There are more than a dozen that conflict. They should make an option within Final Cut Pro to give priority to application shortcuts so you don’t have to disable so many OS ones universally.
