    Just a guess but that might be the problem, maybe update the drivers for the controller card to work on a G5, or replace card with an adaptec card

    ‘Blackmagic Design’s testing has shown, that when the new Apple Mac Pro is populated with 3 x 500 MB SATA disks internally mounted and striped with RAID 0 configuration, approximately 170 MB/sec disk array performance was achieved. This allows customers to build lower cost HD disk arrays for simple capture and playback tasks. For higher performance editing solutions, Blackmagic Design’s testing has shown Apple’s Xserve RAID works well as a high performance uncompressed HDTV disk array. ‘

    I guess It would be nice to put the system disk in the spare optical slot then have a 4 internal way raid

    Rent both cameras and see which one is best for your needs.

    Will the created files that I have on my external drive still open and run on the Intel? Yes

    will I be able to hook up the new Intel Imac to my G5 via firewire and transfer all the software onto the new Intel? No

    I guess if your still on FCP3 you are still on an old G4

    Maybe you should plan for FCP5 on a new G5 keeping your old system intact

    Peter Wiggins did a test of his 15inch intel mac and compared it to his G5 dual 2gig and the laptop came out just as fast overall.

    Do a seach on this forum.

    Just need to get it to work on the new 17inch powerbook then it would make a great cheap little OB set up for interviews etc
