I thought I should add Citizen Kane to this list. You could learn alot from this movie just by studying the audio editing. Welles background on stage and radio gave him an deep understanding of timing and pacing. It’s wonderfully executed.

Hi Brad!
IMHO I would steer clear of the print to video function. In earlier versions of FCP I have noticed glitches that did not appear before I “Printed to video”. Some examples would be flash frames, luminance shifts, and stuttering playback. One of our assistant editors once printed to video and it wrecked havoc on the entire edit. We had to restart the machine, and revert to an earlier auto-saved project.

If I am outputting a finished timeline with bars tone & a slate, rather than use “Print to video” I build the whole timeline and simply press play. I have not had any issues since.

If the mpeg is muxed. (It probably is) You need to rip the audio separately from the muxed mpeg and bring it into Final Cut Pro. Just line it up with your video track and you should be good to go. MPEG Streamclip is great free program. Easy to use and very effective.

Psycho (Shower Scene)

I am still blown away by the editing Mr. Hitchcock did with that shower scene. It still holds up today even though it was cut old school with a razor blade! I humbly bow before his mastery and prowess. This scene gives us all something to strive for and measure our own skills against.

I use TextUpPro myself while subtitling. The title safe function speeds up subtitling considerably. I highly recommend it.

This is possible if you export your titles as a xml and run them through a program such as Spherico Title exchange. This program converts your files into a subtitle stream that DVDSP can read. This will allow you to use one movie in DVDSP and the user can turn the subtitles on and off.

Hi Khusoiry.

First apply the timecode generator to your clip.
Next open your clip in the Viewer.
Then click on the Filters tab.
Finally change the Hour Offset from 0 to 10.
