    (Ignore this if you’re looking for a helpful post)

    One thing the technological age has brought us, is the ability and the necessity to reinvent the wheel an infinite number of times.

    “… mini dv video cassette, and export it as a mpeg2 file in PAL format and burn it onto a dvd”

    And how does he edit it using the DVD?

    BEST thing is to get it transferred form your NTSC miniDV to a PAL miniDV by a professional dub house. Add it to your cost and send it off.
    (This assumes you asked what format they wanted it on, and they said a PAL miniDV – I believe Mongola broadcasts in SECAM.)

    George,
    I’d place the existing Sequence in the Source/Viewer, make a new sequence with the same settings, only check the ‘anamorphic’ box and cut the 4:3 seq into it; (it will automatically pillarbox)
    Render;
    export as appropriate.

    let us know how you got …
    FCP handles going mixing of 4:3 and 16:9 well either way, I feel.

    ‘OSX Leopard delayed because of iPhone …’

    How will Apple explain that to its non-U.S. customer base, which cannot get the iPhone AND still has to wait for Leopard?
    FCP6 better be VERY good for them …

    Have you applied any filters to the pict file?
    I have seen this issue (on any type of clip – not just picts) which have a transition into a clip with a filter. . . .

    How about “The-40-hours-In-A-Day-Guy” ?

    This new age of multi-tasking has a lot to answer for doesn’t it?

    Some folks on the FCP forum pointed me in the right direction, I got it to work by setting the Video Playback to Blackmagic HDTV 1080i 25Hz – 8 Bit (1920 x 1080) setting;
    however, originally, I had been trying the Blackmagic HDTV 1080i 25Hz – 10 Bit (1920 x 1080) setting, but this played back in realtime WITHOUT any down conversion, so I got 1024×576 pixels out of the 1920×1080.

    That shouldn’t happen, should it?

    I’ll send the info to Decklink, directly, and see what they say.
    (I had posted this on the Decklink forum some days ago, but got no reply.)

    Thanks again for helping me sort it out.
