    Hi Guys
It seems that rev and temi are owned by the same company! Anyway for me being able to have a client collaborate on a interview is what I want. I need them to select the go takes and I like that it appears easy with revtemi. You can only share trint files by sending a copy that they can edit but then you can’t. To fix this its $40 a month. Maybe oK if i’ve got lots to do… maybe. Have a interview job that is confidential so can only use an auto service. However for the projects I would probably go the real person route. Either way price is real good. So hello REV

    Thanks Guys

    Hi Rich

I like the look of REV, TRINT is a software based translation and while you get your translation back quickly (30 minutes for a 10 min read) it’s about 90% accurate. So you then have to spend 30 minutes or so correcting the translation.

Can you share a translation using the API with a client? This is so they can mark up the text with highlights for selecting good takes etc.

I have been using Trint for some time and really like it. I imagine that most of these services use IBM’s watson so will have similar outcomes. TRINT has lots of features I like and the fact that you can get your client involved is great.

July 22, 2016 at 1:18 am in reply to: Finding New Clients

    Hi greg
My feeling is that personal networks are the main avenue for getting new clients. I’m closing in on 60 and basically I think my business is stuffed. All my network either have retired or are not in a position to commission work. My wife is a partner in a Design company that is doing very well. They do get new business mainly through her partners contact book of similar 30 plus Females who are the ones commissioning work – Product managers etc (Often they are people who went to Uni together). IMO CEO’s don’t commission work that much. I wish I could find a similar 30’ish female with a great contact book, but I don’t think she would see value in my company…

(By the way I say female because I find that 80% of the time that is who I am dealing with)

I looked at joining the local small Business group but after a while I realised that this would mean really small jobs dealing with people who would want the earth for no money.

So Adwords is it. Worked OK for a while but now as you pointed out getting expensive – $10 per click… ouch. I spend a lot of time adding negative keywords i.e. careers, wedding etc. Another problem with adwords is that you are usually dealing with people who are doing video for the first time (and have no idea what a brief is.. just tell me the cost) or you are dealing with people wanting another two quotes (they already have spoken to the people they want to use).

I always phone back to talk to the potential client and if I find I’m not talking to the decision maker then I’m wasting my time. If its a reasonable size job then I try to organise a meeting, if they are not interested… “They just want to “get an idea on costs” then again I’m toast.

A while back I did a freebie for a Charity but nothing really came from it… maybe I should have followed up with that organisation a bit more.

So if I get a referral from an old client or friend I’m good… otherwise I think adwords is all I have.

Here in PAL land one of the annoying issues with the inbuilt fcpx templates is that they are all in NTSC frame rates i.e. 29.97 fps. Often thats not an issue, just speeds up the transition by a couple of frames. But sometimes it does matter. When I have adapted the effects I’ve had to convert them to ,motn files, alter them with mFPSconverter, change them back to .moti files etc etc…pain in the butt. Of course apple could care less…

There is a free Timecode Reader for Final Cut Pro X.

You can download it from y blog:

    https://finalcutargentina.blogspot.com/2011/07/timecode-reader-gratuito-para...

The instructions for the installation are in spanish, but it’s not a difficult matter.

    It’s for free, of course.

You can edit a multicam clips’s audio. Once you create the multi cam clip double click on it in the events library, that will show all your clips contained in the multicam clip, you can then edit the audio, those changes are maintained when you edit your main storyline. Even if you have already edited all the sequence in the main story line you can go back and open up the multicam clip you created, make further adjustments and they will show up.

Whoops…Added a few clips, detached the audio and we are back to timeline mayhem, does not seem as bad though, or maybe I’m just being optimistic… oh well hopefully Apple are aware of this issue.

What happens though when you bring these titles into FCPx, does 25 or 30 fps matter then? The only issue I have with timing text to speech is that FCPx lacks a tool to time parts of a shot, I have to Blade clips into chunks to get my timing right, is there a better way.
