You may be right. I did validate my fonts but the issue is still there. In fact it’s quite strange. When I create the file in Motion 5 and publish as a FCPx Generator all is well. However once in FCPX when you click on the file you can see the text change to Helvetica. In motion it was Futura Bold. In FCPX bold does not come up as an option, I can do bold oblique or whatever but no bold. Why would these 2 applications show different options for font styles? I will test with other fonts and see what happens.

Thanks Sven and Tapio, that works well, and I must say a very good feature of FCPX.

  • Hi Scott

I had the same problem after trying to import some music files. There must have been too many because it gave up the ghost. Anyway after deleting the CurrentVersion.fcpevent file I restarted. All OK but of course project had disappeared. Put back origiinal event file and noticed that there were all or most of the audio files I had tried to import in the ‘Original Media’ folder – deleted all files and restarted FCPx. I then reconnected all my edited shots and Bingo all is well. Phew..thank God for that as this was an actual Job. I know..I’m crazy but it makes you learn stuff real fast.So thanks Scott and Richard.

To be honest I’ve got no idea of what “supported” means any more. In my research I’ve read of ways of getting your card recognised by Nvidia cards via a text hack ie adding it to a list. Sometimes I think its more marketing than anything else.

Anyway what I would like to know is do you get performance benefits from better graphic cards, and if so what can you expect

With Motion 5 – Playing an old template with around 6 SD video clips I was getting around 15 fps, which is OK. Motion 4 would have much less and kept freezing after 10 seconds or so in my book a big performance improvement. Now I have a MacPro 2.1 with a RadeonX1900 XT graphics card, as I understand it if I upgrade this card to a Radeon HD 5770 (which is supposed to work in this old mac even though it’s not supported by Apple) I should get even a bigger performance gain, I’m hoping up to around 20 fps (I work in 25p projects)
