    Thanks Dennis,

I’ve tried points 1-2.5 already. The Quadro isn’t my primary graphics card because it’s faster doing only the processing for Premiere. I currently have an ATI Raedon HD 5770 running everything else for the computer (displays and other processing besides premiere)

It’s a clean install of Adobe Premiere, and I dont use the Warp Stabilizer a lot, and so far not in the current project.

The only thing I haven’t tried is the 10.9.5 update. So I guess I’ll do that, but would prefer finishing the project (over the next couple of days) first, out of safety. So I’m okay waiting for it.

This is my home edit bay I’m talking about here, but this issue also comes up a lot where I work (a post production facility with much newer machines set up for online and offline editing to begin with).

I have a hunch its a Premiere problem, unless all of these machines are just set up wrong. But I’m gonna try the update first before I yell at Adobe.

Thanks. Let me know if you have any more suggestions.

  • Hey all

THIS IS A FIX! – YAY!

Or at least it worked with me. It’s easier than you’d think.

    UNPLUG YOUR DRIVE.
    Turn it off.
    Plug it back in.
Open project (hopefully with this error gone)
    Make media offline
    Relink media.
    BE HAPPY.

    OUT….hopefully.

    Andy,

Thanks a bunch. Yes that works as normal, unfortunately, I cannot afford to have seperate tracks for these specific audio clips/SFX that I’m effecting. Is there no other way to effect the clip without effecting the track. In other words, only effect the clip?

    Thanks for the replys.

So it looks like we are NOT going back to Avid. We ARE still going back to film scans. I’m editing offline to online…Now I have questions about this though.

It’s being shot on film, and seperate audio (obviously), so what steps should I take to cut it and bring it back to the telecine place so they can conform back to the high res film scans?

My concern is mainly with synching. Is there a specific way I should be doing it? Or will “merge clips” still work if I’m working with an offline to online situation here…

I need answers and fast! – sorry to be so demanding… :/

Thanks for the response. I’m assuming with the amount of footage we will be okay with staying stable in Premiere.

Almost all of the problems this guy had were timecode issues. We’re shooting on film and cutting with the original timecode and have burn ins.

We’re not cutting on avid because of budget, and familiarity….and other complications…with that said…

My main concern is how do I get premiere to Avid smoothly? If the answer is “no, that’s impossible” then that answers my question. Obviously I’m not going to edit the feature all in one timeline, but in 15-20 minute sequences.

October 25, 2013 at 6:53 pm in reply to: Cutting Feature Film Online????

Thanks! I was hoping for that answer. I’ll be receiving footage from telecine as a 1080p avid codec. Most likely Dnxhd 175x or something similar. We will be storing that on a raid of about 8TB. If needed we can purchase another internal drive for footage making it 11TB.

I just don’t want the hassle and the drive space needed for an offline to online workflow.

March 26, 2013 at 12:26 am in reply to: 5K Playback Dropping Frames!

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Unfortunately, the drive isn’t even half full, and it’s a 3TB drive, so that’s out of the question. I’m also running it on USB 3.0 and also have tried plugging it in via esata.

The playback issues are happening in a brand new project. And even if I make a new one, its all the same…dropped frames. 🙁

I’m not running CUDA, and dont think it does run on my graphics card…I should double check it, but I’m pretty sure about that.

I seriously don’t know what to do.

    Thanks for the advice Tom,

    I’ve tried this, and unfortunately…it hasn’t worked. :/

I’ve also tried restarting the machine and messing with the settings a bit. still no luck.

I cant afford a red rocket, so I’m just curious to know if there IS a solution. I know I can edit 5k footage….I’m just angry its not cooperating.

    Any other suggestions?

I could do that, but I’m working with RED raws. Transcoding and re-conforming is not something I can do with this much footage as well. Let alone the time it takes to do so.

Is there no other way besides burning the clips together via exporting to solve this problem?

Yes. The video and audio timecode are different but the clips are merged. The timecode of the merged clip follows the video timecode, not the audio, and I think that’s what the problem is…I just don’t know how to fix it.
