24p HDV was not supported until 5.1.2.

Final Cut Pro HD doesn’t support HDV, you need Final Cut Pro 5.0 or later.

This isn’t always true, some Sony decks need to use Firewire Basic.

Is Start/Stop detection turned off? If so, it sounds like a bad tape.

720p25 was not supported until FCP 5.1.2.

If you make the Canvas display 100% you will see both fields.

Are you mixing 1080i60 and 1080p24, or is it all 1080p24?

Have you tried the HDV 1080i60 Firewire Basic Easy Setup?

This worked for me. Also, when I do capture now my 720p 24fps content has 29.97 timecode.
