Not sure what you are getting at by refering to expressions. Is the car supposed to explode in some way? Otherwise simply assembel the car in a pre-comp with clean orientations, then use the 3D switch and collapse transformations on this layer in your main comp to maintain the 3D-ishness.

I’m not really sure, but in the parts where there is some noticable DOF artifacts, it largely looks like it’s an in-camera effect. Anyway, to solve your problem you might try to apply the DOF effect to a layer with Fractal Noise which you overlay over the footage using Add or Screen mode. This should give you a much lesss uniform result. I can also recommend using Frischluft’s Lenscare plugin, which provides built-in controls for Highlight filtering.

Like Brian said, MSA is your easiest and cheapest way to get that. MoGraph and Thinking particles can do it as well as could XPresso or COFFEE.

Since it’s all a fake, you’ll always have that problem. your best bet is to build each element in a separate composition with its own reflection, but without the actual floor, then merge them together as 2D layers in another comp. This of course requires some matte tricks to be used. So whichever way you see it, it’s never going to be easy.

Like Zarxrax said, check for the language shortcuts. You may still have to re-install, though, as this does not work with Bridge and Encore.

No. Since AE does not have a built-in 3CC, there can be no effect equivalent. Your best bet is to buy Magic Bullet Colorista, write down the values in FCP’s 3CC and re-create them in AE using said plugin.

[buijon] “so just to make sure i got it, none of my pics (ai and tiff) are of recognizable set standard ratios, so i should be switching them all to 1.33 ratio, yes?”

No, that’s exactly what you should not do. Just leave them square. What Dave was pointing at is base on the interpretation rules.txt file, which is more of a comfort feature than the ultimate truth. It’s just based on certain assumptions that do not necessarily need to be present in your workflow.

Leave them at square pixels. Only make sure your HDV footage is interpreted correctly.

Footage will be updated automatically and there are various ways to re-link items. You can however not hope to update your edits and trims automatically. Opening a Premiere project is a one time operation that will convert your timeline into an AE timeline. After that you can only replace, copy&paste and insert new parts from Premiere.

Make sure you have enough disc space where Encore can put it’s cache files. Seems like it’s having a hard time doing that in your setup.
