I am working on a project using Andrew Kramer’s Reflective layer technique. Instead of text I am using photos and video. The problem I am having is that one layer will show through the layer in front of it because of the reduced opacity for the reflection. Is there a way to keep this from happening or do I have to keep my layers spaced far enough away from each other and be careful with my camera location?

    Thanks, Chris-Mn

Since it’s all a fake, you’ll always have that problem. your best bet is to build each element in a separate composition with its own reflection, but without the actual floor, then merge them together as 2D layers in another comp. This of course requires some matte tricks to be used. So whichever way you see it, it’s never going to be easy.
