    Geez, even in the 3d world this is something highly complex and exotic. Like Steve said, Realflow is pretty much what you would need (or Houdini’s or Maya’s fluids).

    [Scott Wright] “Perhaps there is a way to save the file as 1.5 and use that to author?”

    No. Have you tried to reduce the color palette of the subtitles to the 4 colors that are only really relevant for the subtitles and save them as indexerd TIFs or BMPs? Your problem sounds to me like Encore is eating all the RAM because it needs to convert all the images and holds them in memory.

    Ask yourself: Do you need any overrides at all? I know that in about 99% of my projects I don’t. Like Joe said, get rid of them while you can.

    January 23, 2007 at 5:52 pm in reply to: Delay a loopOut expression?

    No. You can’t have both. Introducing delay requires a completely different approach. You have to work with something like thisComp.layer(“Reference Animation”).position[0].valueAtTime(time*time_factor) where you can tie the time factor to a slider which you animate. another, simpler approach is to convert your loopOut() expression to keyframes, pre-compose and time-remap.

    January 23, 2007 at 12:21 pm in reply to: anti-logarithmic output on slider value readouts

    Use the keyframe methods:

    audio_ref=thisComp.layer(“Audio”).effect(“Amplitude”)(“Both Channels”);
    audio_max=100;
    audio_min=0;
    scale_max=100;
    scale_min=0;

    out_scale=Math.log(linear(audio_ref,audio_max,audio_min,scale_min,scale_max));

    You could try to unmoultiply the streaks using XMult, Knoll Unmult or Walker Alpha Tool.

    January 23, 2007 at 8:30 am in reply to: AFX axis positionning

    No. Unlike in 3D programs, position is a compound property. Lieke Steve said, find yourself the preset and apply it as a workaround.

    No, not really. This largely varies from player to player and is not controllable. The only way to be sure would be using explicitly created images and auto-action.
