  • Light Streaks Tutorial / How To Key It Over A Clip

Andrew Kramer Produced a fantastic tutorial on how to make light streaks, (like the Apple Ipod commercials), with Trapcode Particular in AE. I can reproduce the effect he demonstrates without any problem.

When I render it as a Quicktime movie with an alpha I cannot place it over an existing comp or movie clip. AE doesn’t read an alpha channel for the light streaks.

I can use a blending mode to include it in the movie but it’s not as sharp as the original light streak.

How can I produce these streaks and use an alpha channel for a sharper look? Is there a better way?

Have I overlooked something in Andrew Kramer’s tutorial?

    Thanks,
    Faucheux

You could try to unmoultiply the streaks using XMult, Knoll Unmult or Walker Alpha Tool.
