They are part of the Professional version. If you only have Standard (who uses thjat, anyways?), they are not available.

You can work on the spline just like any other. When you Ctrl+click in point selection mode, points will be added to the end.

Assuming you are speaking of Trapcode’s Particular, work in a square pixel comp (1024×576). Neither of the Trapcode plugins is pixel aspect ratio aware. Same goes for several other standard AE plugins and my also aplly to CC particle effects.

Not sure what you are doing, but you are certainly screwing up your import settings it seems. In XPress always import upper fields first and RGB color levels when you have rendered out stuff from AE (with proper fields, of course, at 720×576 px, 1.6667 ratio for standard DV stuff) If you want to include Alpha channels, make sure your composition background is black. XPress always assumes that. Beyond that there is not much you can do – if you import your stuff into XPress using DV 25 or DV 50 it loses a lot of its sexiness. The only way to get decent quality is to work in 1:1 res. I’d also stay away from rendering out stuff from AE using Avid CoDecs – just too much trrouble.

You could try some super-subtle displacement effects with Mesh Warp or Bezier Warp. Another trick that might work is to simply introduce some noise – most hair looks lively simply due to som shifts in brightness.

February 4, 2007 at 6:13 pm in reply to: Chapters or Time lines?

For a simple scenario it doesn’t matter much which method you use (except for multiple clips on a single timeline being more prone to problems), but when you have multiple menus that are supposed to jump to a certain clip, having a separate timeline simplifies navigation. That audio part is completely irrelevant – if you jump into the middel of a long timeline you get just the same delay like when jumping to an individual timeline. In that case it doesn’t have any benefits if your audio is imported as a singel continuous strema and plays seamlessly.

  • Simple rule: Motion is always predominant. So more than anything else it is important to properly line up your airplane shoot and have correct lighting. It does not really matter that much if your BG plate is aligned perfectly as long as the viewer has the impression of some parallax and the aircraft is always on the right depth plane in relation to the BG.

What do you mean? Coolness comes at a price and this means it’s a lot of hard work. In the particular example a lot of keying, masking and rotoscoping. There can be no instant one-click plugin solutions for this kind of stuff. not sure what you are looking for.

Animate the Start/ End growth of a SweepNURBS object.

Well, you could try to manipulate the time in Thinking Particles. If it’s really just a simple ballistic arc, you can also use SweepNURBS with some noisy displacement or the MoGraph modules’ Spline Wrap. Beyond that I don’t see a way of doing it in C4D.
