Your aspect ratios are wrong. 720×480 is anamorphic pixels, not square ones. When working with square pixels, it should be 720×504. DV is always anamorphic 720×480 (720×486, respectively).

[George Loch] “Actually, I have found the compression options to be better quality outside of AE anyway so, I am not sure why you would want to go directly from AE to Mpeg2 when you will get better quality from a dedicated encoder.”
I would argue that. The Adobe MPEG-II encoder produces excellent output, you just need to tweak the settings. Sure, there are even better tools out there, but considering you get your MPEG-II output “for free” with any Adobe video app, you can’t complain. Compared to what you get bundled with tools from Avid/ Pinnacle and others it’s still way superior.

[TonyTony] “Does AE have the ability to fine tune your mpeg compression? I would think that most people would like the control of a program meant for mpeg compression.”
It has, people just never seem to know how to use it.

[Dave LaRonde] “I don’t know the reason why, but there is a reason.”
The underlying MainConcept MPEG routines were initially PC only.

Goodness, that is most atrocious. First off assign your sliders to variables like:
min_wiggle=thisComp.layer(“Null”).effect(“Min Wiggle”)(“Slider”);
Then use those variables inside your formulas. I also wouldn’t use the orientation property, use the normal rotations instead. To isoalte results of your wiggle, simply use the array syntax:
X=wiggle(amp,freq)[1];
Wiggle always works in all dimensions, so no need for any special precautions. If you want different values for X and Y, your wiggle must be put in a function. Search the main AE forum, I believe Filip Vanduren once provided some full code and it included even some stuff for looping.

Not sure what you are getting at. This can one created using CC Ball Action or 3D particle systems such as Trapcode’s Particular. What seems to be the problem?

February 6, 2007 at 6:59 am in reply to: add a slider/expression to vary the speed of a loopOut expressionNo. You’d have to have the reference animation on a different layer and use valueAtTime(time*timescale) or something similar. Simple way: pre-compose and use time remapping.
