Have you disabled GPU acceleration within the plugin itself? Try it, it may fix the problem and for final rendering it’s not that important.

You should visit The Foundry’s website regardless. There has been an updated version of Keylight released just recently.

You cannot add sub-picture fades to menu buttons. You have to change the way you are doing this. The simplest way would be to shorten the sub-picture duration until the point where the fade begins.

Mmh, actually this is possibly more or a Photoshop task. If it’s supposed to really be convincing, you need to cut out segments of bricks or even single bricks and arrange them in a manner like some real housebuilding would be done. For letters that only consist of straight lines you could even construct side faces and map them on 3D layers in AE. The point here is that it’s all about structure. It needs to feel logical and simply displacing stuff won’t work ‘cos everybody knows how certain structure would fall apart in reality. You can possibly also get some interesting results with the Shatter effect. It has a built-in brick shape pattern and if you use a custom shatter map, you should be able to control at least in part where your blocks go. Lastly, as another 3D-ish effect, use good old Card Dance. By combining multiple instances and creating custom maps for scales and offsets of your cards/ bricks, you are sure to get some interesting results. Just don’t be hell-bent on sticking to 100% perfectly regular pattern as with your font.

Well, depending on what you are looking for, you could achieve it all with expression based setups or by using a particle system. If you could provide a reference picture of what look you are actually after, we might help you out on that.

You can always use the start, end and offset controls in 3DStroke. unfortunately there is no way to get the real length of a mask/ path with expressions, so it’s not exactly easy to correlate the percentages to that, but it should do. Other than that work with the first vertex trick Perl38 was pointing out. Just make sure all your masks are closed properly, or you won’t have that option (you can only choose the end vertices on open paths in that case).

February 22, 2007 at 7:03 am in reply to: re: relinking multiple files / folder locations QUESTIONLike joshua said – if you keep the relative file paths the same, AE will auto-scan the folders and sub-folders and relink everything more or less automatically. Other than that it certainly is doable with a script by repointing the footage source property. Not sure if something along those lines already exists, though.

Simple keyframing would do best. Unless you want to simulate an extreme jolt from the impact of each letter, I don’t know what any expression would be good for, least of all wiggle(). For the dust you can use anything from masked Fractal Noise to particles systems.

Simulate the different states, then freeze them by converting the state. create a morph setup and by painting morph weightmaps you can control where each vertex goes, yet maintain some physics based correctness.

Camtasia, Camstudio, ScreenVirtuoso, mdm capture are just a few. You can find many more if you do a Google search.
