We’re working on a comp in 720P 24 that crashes everytime the render gets to a clip that has any Knoll Light Factory effect on it. Turning these clips off or removing the effect stops the crashing. We have no problem with RAM previews, or working in the timeline, only on rendering.

For now, my workaround is to export stills of the effects we need & parent them to the layers that were supposed to recieve them or render the moving effects out from Motion & add them into the timeline, but it’s a less than optimal way of working.

    We’re working on a G5 Quad with AE Pro 6.0, KLF 2.5 OSX 10.4.8 & 4.5 gigs of RAM.

Have you disabled GPU acceleration within the plugin itself? Try it, it may fix the problem and for final rendering it’s not that important.

Thanks, I had already tried that. It seemed to have no effect either way.

If you have nucleo pro you can always try some workaround high res spec preview/spec render options —-
it’ll be an extra step but you’ll get it out if your RAM previews are working.

Also, try an image sequence. Maybe set one to fire out right in the middle of the Knoll animation, if it works, then pick up the rest using ‘skip exisiting files.’
