I don’t have a physical representation of what I’m trying to create, but I can describe it…and I need your help.

Image a wooden ring about 10″ in diameter. Then imagine an eliptcal/teardrop shape about 8″ away from the ring held secure with dowel rods. At it’s widest point, the teardrop is about 15″ and at its most narrow it measures about 10-12 inches. Situate this framework as if it were an indian tee-pee and attach a fabric, or other flexible shape. The cloth simulator works well, but I cannot seem to define the tension on each of the points independently. How would I go about doing this??

    Thanks…

You can use vertex maps to control many Clothilde parameters. Not sure I understand exactly what you’re after, but that might be a start.

Use weightmaps, like Adam said. if that fails, try morphing. Simulate the different states, then freeze them by converting the state. create a morph setup and by painting morph weightmaps you can control where each vertex goes, yet maintain some physics based correctness.

Adam, how goes it man? I am still getting my footing with C4D and I’m terrified of the things that I don

That sounds like a pretty big undertaking for a guy who just learned how to use bones. I asked Adam if he might have a tutorial lying around, but do you have anything I might use as a tutorial/practice file?

    Thanks Mylenium….

No, not really. I’m just doodling around with R10s new tools and methodologies and since I’m too busy with Beta testing othe new toys, I’m spending way too little time diong that and I’m just plain crap at creating anything “cool” or production-proof. What I was pointing at is more of a theoretical scenario how I would approach it (and I know it would work in Lightwave for instance), but I haven’t actually tried it in C4D. Well, I keep my fingers crossed for you… ;o)
