Discreet promised FCP XML integration in Flame a couple of years ago. You may want to check that.

If the film ran at 29.97 during transfer and each film frame ended up as a single video frame just conform all the footage to 23.98 in Cinema Tools. This would get the speed back to normal without messing with fields. Then you work in 23.98 project. FCP can insert 3:2 field padding on the fly for monitoring.

This is a major issue with QuickTime that causes surprisingly few complains. Does everybody knows a workaround I’m unaware of or does everyone simply gave up? Did fighting the dreaded luma clamping issue in the days of FCP 1.2.5 exhausted the community power so much?

Yes, the company is very responsive. They added Cyrillic support to HDLog in a matter of days. And please keep in mind that the app isn’t simple P2 viewer but a very powerful logging tool. I wish it had better interface though.

It should be OFF except when you lay down the final master. This switch engages read head during recording so you see what’s on tape right away.

The playhead on the timeline doesn’t need to be within the In-Out boundaries for Replace to work. FCP will count down (or up) from the playhead to the marks.
