I’m offlining on the FCP and exporting an EDL for online on a Flame. My understanding is that I’m to use the CMX3600 format option. But, when we imported into the Flame the EDL reflected inconsistent TC for every clip.

We dig’d from DV at 23.98. All my settings in FCP are at 23.98. Actually, this brings up another question – Why don’t I have a 23.98 playback option? We’re going to drop to HDcam at 29.97 then dub over to SD.

    Please respond…

    Thank you!

24 fps EDL’s probably aren’t going to work using any EDL export format… it’s because their development ceased a long long time ago… as in over 17 years ago…

The TC on the 24fps files isn’t going to match the timecode of the 29.97 tapes either, so your best bet is to recapture/re edit in29.97 and export the list, or just tweak it sort of manually in the Flame… i.e. the last frame before a second will go up in a 24 fps video file is going to be like 1:00:00:23, where the last frame on the tape at that point will be 1:00:00:29… And you need to recapture with the the 29.97 TC for all to come out OK I’d think.

You can use Cinema Tools to create a 29.97 EDL from a 23.98 project.

Discreet promised FCP XML integration in Flame a couple of years ago. You may want to check that.
