You can export from Premiere back to DV tape and then recapture on the Mac, but you will loose the original timecode. If the timecode issue is just for client colaboration use the Clip Notes feature or drop the Timecode effect onto the footage before exporting.

wHAT YOU see in the Program window often is not what you get on a TV (especially graphics), thats why most of us preview on a TV monitor attached to Premiere via a camcorder or A/D converter. The exception would be for projects that wont be viewed on a TV.
Part of the issue is the size of the preview window. We all know that one should preview at 100% zoom in Photoshop, well the same would apply for Premiere except that is not practical unless you have dual monitors. Even that ignores safe zones and safe colors/fonts that appear different on a TV.

If you are using Premiere Pro 2.0, why fool with Nero as Premiere can do better menus and other options.
If your overall length is less than an hour, choose the 7 Mbps CBR preset.
If you must use Nero, change the file extension of the M2V file to .mpg. Nero may not like a seperate .wav for the audio, so you will need to select DVD as the Multiplexing type (Multiplexer tab in the encoder) to create one file with both video and audio.
Forget about mcmcs files.

I suspect;
Cutting, trimming and moving clips in the timeline records every move into the Project file. Often this can be as many as a dozen or more moves with the mouse for what amounts to 3 keystrokes in the Source window..
Setting In and Out points in the source window and using the Insert command results in much less being recorded into the Project file.
50 Megabytes of editing decisions is probably more than Hollywood editors create for a feature length film.

It is not the player that wont play Microsoft DV, it is the Operating System. Export as Apple DV/DVCPRO NTSC (or PAL) as the QT codec.

The VX1000 records audio at only 32Khz sample rate…suggest using the correct project preset that matches that.

Auto Save creates (by default) 5 .pproj files in a seperate folder (preferences). It does this every 20 minutes (again default) so the most work one should loose is 20 minutes by opening the latest version.
While I have not had a corrupt project file, I have seen more than a few. Most are 50 MB + in size and created by newbies who edit in the timeline and not the source window.

Select the clip in the Project window and then choose Clip (menu bar) > Audio Options>> Break out to mono.
This process basically prevents editing the clip in the source window and makes it difficult to edit in the timeline as the Lift and Extract commands only work on selected tracks and one can have only one audio track selected.

I have seen project files that go bad or that take a long time to load…they were in excess of 50MB…no effects and only a few titles. I suspect editing style is the cause…folks slicing and dicing in the timeline instead of in the Source window.
