You may want to read my first posting about capture problems first.

Now, I have the original camera to capture the MiniDV that didn’t want to work when I tried dubbing it in from the first 2 cameras…the problem now is that while windows sees the camera and PPro lets me take control of the camera functions, no video or audio is coming through.

I’ve double-checked settings, unplugged and replugged the firewire cord…I’m looking for anyone who may have had problems or knows if there are any issues.

    The camera: Sony Handycam DCR-VX1000

Is the power switch in the VTR mode? If so are you seeing the video in the cam’s viewfinder and have you tried to monitor the audio with a headset connected to the cam

The VX1000 records audio at only 32Khz sample rate…suggest using the correct project preset that matches that.

I can see the video in the viewfinder when I’m trying to do the capture and the audio comes through the headphones.

When I tried using the other cameras I have (a Canon ZR-45MC and a Canon GL-2), both the audio and video were “choppy”. At the same time, the timestamp data would bounce back and forth between the actual time stamp and 00:00:00:00. Thinking I could get around all this by capturing in Microsoft Movie Maker, the audio came out great, but the video would speed up and slow down.

My only other options at this point is to go over to the local cablevision shop and see if they can put it into their system, then transfer it to a portable hard drive (I figure it’s too big for DVD…I have over 2 hours of footage) or to go S-Video…but I don’t have a video capture card.

use your other camera as a capture card.
