It’s called Open Office and you don’t need to worry about a demo version as it’s open source software (i.e. FREE). The download is close to 100 MB. though

No you can’t. Vegas is an editing app while DVDA is a DVD authoring app. DVDA takes the files you create in Vegas to make the finished DVD.
Is it necessary? No. Lots of folks use other apps to create the DVD so the choice is yours. -
I was rendering as uncompressed, as a friend suggested that would be the best quality.
If the original video was DV-AVI, you’re not really gaining anything by rendering uncompressed. The only time this is (typically) used is for apps like After Effects.

Vegas 7 defaults to having video and audio grouped, which I personally like, so deleting one will delete both.
And if you don’t like this new default, change it by deselecting Cut, copy and delete grouped events in Options – Prefs – Editing. Then it’ll act like it did in Vegas 6, etc.

I’m assuming your text is within the Safe Title area.
If so, a text sizing trick I learned some time ago is to create it at double the default frame size.
That means changing it from 720 x 480 to 1440 x 960.
As long as you don’t zoom, it will still look the same in Vegas (probabbly a bit cleaner around the edges). Zooming in as you did is where the benefits of doing this show up 🙂

That is, go to each relevant folder, find them and delete them. -
The biggest advantage to capturing it “live” is that, as you said, you’ll end up with an AVI file which is much easier to edit than an MPEG-2 file.

I agree with Gary on this. Any time I’ve seen a bad DVD, it’s almost always because it’s cheap no-name media. Stick with a good name brand like Tayo and you’ll be OK.
BTW, I never burn at the maximum speed. If it’s 8X media, I’ll only burn at 4X. I’ve been doing this for 4 years now and haven’t had one disc returned because it was defective. -
Why not just do a “print to tape” and bring that to them?
