    I am trying to render a project as an avi file to burn to DVD.
    I am having some problems though;

    Vegas seems to break the project into 3.98 GB clips (1:42:22)
    I would like my whole 52 min. project to be rendered as 1 avi file.
    Also, is it normal for a 52 min. project to take up so much space
    approx.(118 GB)? I was able to render 60 min. projects on my Media 100
    w/ a 60GB hard drive with no problems. Am I missing a setting or preference?

    What are you rendering as? Uncompressed AVI? If you are rendering to AVI you should render to DV-AVI, which should be somewhere around 12G pr hour. As for the project being broken into 4G portions, there may be a couple of reasons for that, but the main suspect would be your file system being FAT32 rather than NTFS. FAT32 only supports files of 4G size, so Vegas would have to chop the rendered file on those limits.

    Thanks for the help!
    I was rendering as uncompressed, as a friend suggested that would be the best quality. Also, the drive I was rendering to is a Lacie 160GB external; I just plugged it in & saved info to it without noticing the file system was FAT32.

    If the original video was DV-AVI, you’re not really gaining anything by rendering uncompressed. The only time this is (typically) used is for apps like After Effects.
