December 9, 2006 at 7:01 amVegas 7 defaults to having video and audio grouped, which I personally like, so deleting one will delete both.
To avoid deleting both, select either and hit “U” to ungroup, then delete as desired.
Alternatively, the clip can first be opened in the Trimmer where you can use Tab to toggle Audio only, Video only or both before dragging or sending to the timeline.

If it’s already on the timeline, turn on Ignore Event Grouping, then delete the audio.

A couple other options include briefly turning on Ignore Event Grouping or going to the preferences, editing tab, and unchecking the “Cut, copy, and delete grouped events” option which will return it to the Vegas 6 behavior.

And if you don’t like this new default, change it by deselecting Cut, copy and delete grouped events in Options – Prefs – Editing. Then it’ll act like it did in Vegas 6, etc.
