That’ll give you a 400% increase.
Insert a Velocity (no, not a dpsVelocity!!) envelope (shortcut key is V) for 300% more for a total of 1200%.
If that’s still not fast enough, render the clip to a new track and do these steps again.
Another option is to get Veggie Toolkit which comes with Time Bandit. -
If you can afford it, go for a 1920 x 1200.
The extra screen size alone is worth it 🙂

What you forgot to take into account was something called overscan.
In a nutshell, a TV set will never show you what you see on a computer screen. Modern TVs have gotten better at this but it’s not uncommon for older TVs to overscan as much as 20% 🙁
For this reason, Vegas gives you the option to have safe areas displayed in your preview window.
It’s the thing that looks like #.
Enable it and look at your graphics & titles again.
Anything that falls outside of the inner dashed lines may not show up on a TV set so make sure any graphics & titles stay inside of the inner lines.The text creation tool in Vegas has markings in the placement tab. Make sure any titles stay within this box.
The defaults are 10% for Safe Action Area and 20% for Safe Title Area.
BTW, DVD Architect has an option to display these markings as well.The easy fix (and not one I’d recommend) is to use Track Motion to zoom the entire project out until your titles & graphics fit.
The drawback to doing this is a black border around your entire project.To do it properly, you’re going to have to go back and redo all your graphics & text to fit properly.

You need to render out a 24p file from Vegas and feed that to DVDA.
From the DVDA help file:
If you’re using the MainConcept MPEG-2 encoder in Vegas software, use the DVD Architect NTSC video stream or DVD Architect 24p NTSC video stream template to render your video stream (you’ll need to render your audio stream separately according to the parameters listed in the AC-3 audio or PCM audio headings).

In theory, USB is faster than firewire.
The reality is that USB can’t maintain the speed necessary to capture full-frame full-motion (720×480 @ 30 fps.) video.

If you mean different presets, use Preset Manager to re-install them.
If it’s not presets, then please be more specific. -
All I can say is try it and see what happens.
The largest graphic I’ve ever worked with was 5,000 x 4,000 and any zooming/panning slowed a a P4 3.4GHz machine to a crawl. -
The file size is definitely the problem.
I just tried it and it locked up on me as well (quad core with 2 GB of RAM).
The JPEG worked for you because it’s roughly half the size of the PNG.
If you can do it, shrink the image down to around the 10,000 pixel mark (approx. 20% smaller).
When I did this, it loaded in OK on my machine.
