Insert a volume envelope (click the audio event to highlight it and then click the V key).
Add points and drag as desired 🙂

Click the “Split Screen View” icon (just above the top left corner of the Preview window to disable it.
When it’s enabled, click the drop-down arrow right next to it for several viewing options including “Select Right Half”.

Click the “Sync Cursor” button (at the bottom left of the Pan/Crop or FX window timeline) to enable it.
You’ll now be able to do what you want.

The AVIs come from a digital camera, right?
If so, they’re actually MJPEG files in an AVI wrapper.
If so, download the demo version of the MainConcept MJPEG codec and you should be OK.

You can download a free effect called Halovison at the NewBlueFX site.

From the site:
Halovision creates a halo-like aura around objects in the picture. You can use it to simulate paint effects ranging from halo to soft glow, to watercolor.

You’ll need to register but it’s free and spam-free.

Apply the timecode FX to the clip while it’s still in the media pool.
Then, when you bring it up to the timeline, the original timecode will be displayed.

Speaking for myself, I’m interested in hearing what intro method you decided to go with.

It’s my feeling that changing the properties to something other than their original media settings are why you’re running into problems.

Since you’re starting with DV-AVI, I’d leave the project settings at NTSC DV (720×480, 29.970 fps).

It’s when you go to render that you choose the various options such as 320×240, etc.

I just tried what you want to do with an HDV file (project properties set to HDV 1080-60i – 1440×1080, 29.970 fps) and had no problems customizing any of the WMV templates to the settings you described.

Then render again save as type Dolby digital AC3
Template – there are a couple of changes you might want to make to the settings but I don’t have them handy in front of me right now.

Encode set to AC3;
Click on Custom tab;
On the first tab, set diag. norm to” -31″;
On the last tab marked Preprocessing, set the Line Mode Profile
and RF Mode Profile mode to “none”;
Save this as a preset.
