How do I view the actual time code of the clip as it was recorded
Posted by Jake Zeer on August 19, 2007 at 8:30 amHi,
I wrote notes as I was filming as to where my edits should be but they are according to the time code of the tape. My shoot is divided into 15 actual vegas projects so I am not putting the entire footage on the timeline at one time. How can I put a clip on the timeline and view it according to the time code in the camera and therefore know where to make my edits.
TIA

August 19, 2007 at 11:16 amApply the timecode FX to the clip while it’s still in the media pool.
Then, when you bring it up to the timeline, the original timecode will be displayed. -

Is there any way to do this for my entire bin so that when I bring any clip to the time line it has the time stamp?
I tried highlighting all the clips and then right clicking but it didn’t apply the timestamp to all the clips – I think it was only the one that the cursor was on when I right clicked.I also noticed that when the clip goes into the timeline with the timestamp it does not show that there is a FX applied to it – only when I right click the clip in the bin can I remove the time stamp. I obviously don’t want it there for the final render. Is this normal or the easiest way to handle this timecode effect to all my clips?
Thanks for sharing your expertise

August 19, 2007 at 2:12 pmUse the Tools/Scripting option to add T/C to all media. Use the same feature to remove it all.

That’s because there isn’t an effect added on the timeline. None can show when none is there. Effects show only where they’re added: Add it to the event, it shows on the event. Add it to the track, it shows on the track. Add it to the project media, it shows in the project media. Add it to the project, it shows on the project.

October 14, 2007 at 1:14 amNot sure if I am in the right area;
I don’t want timecode as much as I want to add a running clock like on the Cops shot on TV. A 12 or 24 hr clock running at lower right that SHOWS over the video, not just time stamped. When I added time code and sent it back to my DV camera, it looked like it would show up, but when I then sent it to an offline video editor, no clock showed.
How can I add a visual running clock to show time endurance?
Thanks in advance
