It installs some of the stuff on the first disc (have tried other disc) and then says install failed try again.
Like I said if I hook up an external FW drive and boot off it I was able to install the software on that.

I always repair premissions before going a major installed, went ahead a did it again – didn’t help.
Also tried removing the receipts like the article said, didn’t help either.

15 GB after unchecking the media files.
But I hooked up my backup drive and installed it just fine on it and it only had about 9GB and it installed fine.

One thing, if you go with any MacPro, do NOT order it with the extra drives and RAM Drives and RAM can be purchased for 1/2 the price and take seconds to install. You never go wrong buy the fastest system but it money is tight sometimes getting a slow system with the X1900 and extra RAM is better.
Really looking forward to Leopard, should unlock a lot of caged speed. At least i hope.

Sometime cheapest is not the best if you really don’t know what you are looking for. There is a lot more to an editing system that the computer. I think systems for people exploring new systems with much experience show consider going to a VAR or at least a consultant.

Thanks guys that is the way I have it now. Do have a couple of weird things happen that I cannot find a solution for. The most problematic is the system with my Raid plugged into the Sonnet card will not go through a restart – it will shut off and hang on a black screen. I then do a hard power off and have to wait a couple of minutes and reboot, all is fine. I can also shut down and reboot after the couple of minute wait.
Also would you be able to install another Sonnet card (or another 4x card) in slot 2 or would that just be pushing my luck.
Also, most of the time I have a Norco 12 bay enclosure hooked up. It has two 5-bay with port multipliers and two single bays. The (2) 5 bays are Raided together as Raid 0. At times I unhook one of the single backs and hook up a Sonnet P500 that has 5 jobd drives not raided. They all seem to play okay but didn’t know if I’m pushing my luck here also.

DVCProHD 720P is 960X720 so even varicam to tape will be this size.

Batch capture should do just that capture every clip. One thing to check is the reel name needs to be the same on each clip or it will think you need to change the tape.

this is not a Intel/G5 issue but a FCP version issue. Both system have to be updated to the same level.

You also lose a lot of wide end of the zoom, w/ the 1.6x the first 30-40% of the zoom vignettes but with the 2x I would say about 80-90% of the zoom vignettes. I have used 1.6x and the added zoom is really nice and I need to pull the image in and could not get physically closer so I could live with the lose on the wide side.
Also these are big heavy pieces of glass, making it almost impossible to handhold the camera.
If you really need a lot more power often seriously look at the HPX500.
