I’m not suggesting I need the speed at all, but it seems like if you fill the PCIe slots the feedback you get from the Mac is that some of the cards are not better enough bandwidth, Apples words not mine. As far as following AJA recommendation I have been but once again there is no recommendation for 8x cards (ATTOs new card) or (2) 4x cards (Sonnet) but if you are saying that it really doesn’t matter, nothing really needs the bandwidth that they are asking for that is kind of what I’m looking for.

Read the specs and I was not impressed especially for the price/performance but I don’t like internal raid.

But this brings up a PCI config question I have, I’m going to ask it in another thread though.

  • As long as the orginal DVD does not have CSS, I use Cinematize Pro to demux – it does it in one step, I normally export to a DVCPro50 or 10-Bit Uncompressed codec, so I get 4:2:2 color space, DVCPro50 can be easier since it is 720×480 and you don’t have to deal with the 486 which 10-Bit should be.

But you switch the field dominance is why you are having problems. NEVER do that!

  • [ChrisReid] “- field dominance changed to “Upper (Odd)” because on an earlier project of the same kind, but a NTSC 4:3, it worked good (not that I know what I did here)”

[ChrisReid] “ender settings: Best Quality preset but with the Upper Field First in Field Render dialog selected”

NTSC SD is always lower first

Do you still have the raw P2 files so you can compare footage before and after being ingested. Without applying a filter, I have never seem this.

I have seen this with FCP6 also. I unchecked remove duplicate frames and that corrected the problem.

    Maybe a IoHDLA/D by Christmas 🙂

Not sure what the point of comparing the size of hardware that is totally different. The IoHD replaces the Io and not the IoLA or LD. I would expect AJA to be able to cram all the ins and outs into a box the size of the LA.

This will down-convert your signal to DV. It would be better to use the HPX900 since it has firewire out. Or the new AJA IoHD would do the trick.

If you can bring a Tower then all you need is a Capture card from AJA or Black Magic but I’m pretty sure you would lose timecode this way.

    Ernie,

Thanks for your help, I think I’m good now. Seems like Denver is an all sports town.
