[Cristian Colbert] “My dilema is, how do I share the media across 3 MacBook Pros so that all three editors can cut at the same time without having to clone the 5TB of drives 2 additional times.”

There is no way to have 3 people accessing the same files at the same time without XSan or similar.

I have the varizoom, the focus is okay but if you are looking for more of a true follow focus the Bebob might be better. As for the varizoom zoom control it works really well but I would like the speed control that the Bebob offers. But the Bebob combination is a lot more money but in hind sight I might be willing to spend that extra money now.

I wonder how responsive the electronic focus is to people that have used gear ones for years. I have never used a gear follow focus and while I think the response is good, a seasoned pro may think it is lacking.

Yes I do have Safari 3 installed.

The last thing fixed was compressor and following the Apple paper gave me the fix. In the process of wiping the drive clean and restoring for my back got the install to go through which I needed for compressor. So in the end all is good, some benefits of doing it the hard way was I have a optimized/defragmented system drive on Laptop. Cleaned out and organized my files. Best of all found 30GB of hidden files of Qmaster render cache.

So all is good, thanks for all the pointers everyone.

But that later notice does not need for you to re-enter the serial number. It will keep coming up until you submit though.

Check to see if you have a file call “Final Cut Studio System ID” (might be Final Cut Pro is you are using an earlier version of FCP )in

All these suggests are good but I don’t think there is anything out there that is going to compress a 5 min video to 5-10 MB, getting it down to 30MB and liking the quality sounds good to me.

And this is why you do this in-between project – as much of a pain it is nothing is pressing this week.

Was just going to head to apple to see what they had posted, thanks for the link.

Well, I ended up taking me system back up FW drive and install FCS2 on it and then totally erase the laptop drive. Everything works except for compressor. I quits on launch.

The MXO would take up one of the already used DVI ports. A cost effective thing to get would be the Decklink HDLink ($450 or so) That takes the HD SDI from the Kona and converts it to DVI for something like the Apple 23″ and you get a pixel for pixel display. With that being said it is not for color correcting. For Color Correcting the debate rages on but CRT still rule.

That is just a scary thought.

What the install to see where it quits and it seems to go through almost everything until it is zipping through the Support files and gives me the failed try again.

Some of the apps work – Qmaster, Cinema Tools, DVDSP and Livetype

the apps that don’t even launch are Qadmin, Colot, FCP, Motion and STP, then Compressor launches but quits before finishing.

It has to be something about the internal drive since I can install FCS2 on this system using an external drive.
