I just tried using the motion stabilizer on FCP 6 today, but I’m having a slight problem. On a 7 second clip it is showing that it will take up to 9 hours for it to analyze and execute the effect! I have a new mac pro with two quads so I know my computer is fine. Is there some setting I have to futz with???

SmoothCam analyzes the entire media file. Export just the clip you want. reimport and then run smoothcam.

    All the best,

Remember to give yourself some handles.

Even when you follow this advice, be prepared for some LONG render times.

A trick you can use is to “Send to Motion” then use the smooth cam in there. It will only analyze the clip and save a ton of time, especially since FCP can’t use all 8 cores anyways. Our brand new 8 core 3.2 Ghz mac pro only uses 35% of it’s power to analyze using smooth cam.

I am amazed that this BUG is in FCP. I hope they fix it soon or give you the option to analyze the clip vs. the whole file.

It should at least be the default to only analyze the clip.

    Cheers,
