If anyone does no this they cannot talk about it, especially in a public forum. Anything you will hear is speculation.My guess they will support both, there is already limited support for HD DVD but the authoring level is no where complete and it is more of a way to build closed HD DVD titles that playback on a Mac. IMO
BTW – this really is only a DVDSP question since both of these are a DVD delivery format.

There is no substitute for quality being large file sizes only compromises.
First the question is what do you want the Exported file for? Generally when making the QT files out of FCP you want to just use “Current Settings” which means your timeline setting, This is just a copy of the final edit. So if you are editing DV it will be DV. If you are going to DVDSP the file can be encoded before hand or in the program, not sure about iDVD but you can bring in the Current Frame movie into iDVD, the only codec that ends up on a DVD is m2v (mpeg2)
Stuff like H.264, Mpeg4, Mpeg1 are final delivery codecs that are highly compressed and are used for posting on the web and CDs. (For the most part). You probably need to do some reading of the manuals for explanations. May want to look through Compressors help just so you get a handle on this.

I agree with the above, I would ask why not me? I don’t normally give project files away. It is like a photographers negatives or an audio guys pro tools files. But if requested I probably would but I would sure not do it without a try to keep the work in my shop.
The other way for you to give them everything would be to use media management and “COPY” the project and all the times to a new drive. This way all the footage is copied and moved to the new location. If you are editing uncompressed up loading is most likely out of the question.
This is also going to time up your system and you should be charging at lest a half day for doing this plus the cost of the hard drive.

Can you post a sample clip, I have a Kona3 and don’t have any issues. The Kona uses the generic QT codec. Is the 32 bit (little endian) the audio streams?
For clarification is the problem just with the video out not playing or timeline needing to be rendered.

If you want the best quality encodes from compressor export the timeline from FCP and if fact you would want to have your timeline unrended before sending.
If you have a short amount of video encoding a high CBR 6.5-7 Mbps will be better than any VBR.

if you nest seqs in a seq its function it to update.
If you just copy all the clips in from the other seqs and then paste them into the “combined” seq it with not update with changes to the original seqs.

Well I think that would still fall short of Panasonic’s needs. Also remember that P2 came in before Express32 cards. So there is always choice to be made.
Not saying I have research the Sony card, just offering a thought.

The board outputs 24P but 24P is always RECORDED over 60.

Sony only needs 35Mb/s while Panasonic needs 100Mb/s. HDV is a highly compressed codec.
Another huge difference is the color space, 4:2:0 vs. 4:2:2.
Don’t think this is a clear winner by any means. This is another good option but I would stay with the HVX myself. It does have seem real cool features, I like the idea behind the zoom ring for AF/MF

Also check to AV Devices to make sure you do not have Different Output for Edit to Tape checked
