What are your camera and FS100 settings?

Sorry, sometimes my figures and mind don’t work together.
I buy drives with FW800 and eSATA ports. I hook the drive up via FW800 when transferring P2 cards in the Duel Adapter, then if I have the AJA Io hooked up I use the eSATA port to a express 34 card.

That maybe the hardest way of doing that.
Your device can encode mpeg2 so why are you not get using that instead of going to mpeg1 then dv then mpeg2.
So you are trying to fit 3 hours on a DVD+R DL which is 8.5 gb
5.8 Mbps for video (CBR or VBR average) and ac3 audio at .192Mbps will fit.NEVER mess with the GOP structure, for NTSC it should be 15, Closed!
All that said, why do you have 3 hours to put on a DVD? Most VHSs are under 2 hours? Personally I would by a DVD-Record and burn in real time to that and be done with it.

No matter have much resolution FCP has to work with, slow-mo will suck. In fact the better the footage the more the sucking will stand out.
The new version of Motion has the Shake render engine and can do some good slow-mo but it will take a lot of render time.
May want to take a look at the user manual to see how to use the camera. (not trying to be mean but that is really a “read the manual”)

This is a problem with DVD specs, that is why you really don’t see a lot of text highlights on hollywood releases. When you do they edges a hidden with a darker background edge. The text is there when not selected and then changes color when selected.
It sounds like you want the text to be invisible when not selected, which is hard to do and make look good. Things that help are font choices, bold straighter verticals and rounded corners, back down on the opacity, Stroke the text with a red line, set this to the same color as the black text but even less opacity.
Designing DVD menus require a balance of what you want the menu to look like and what you can do within the spec.
One compromise is to use layer menus which you can achieve any look you what but you sacrifice speed of navigation, motion menus and audio.

Almost 100% sure the file is corrupt. Look in the auto save folder to see if there is a file that will open.
I did download the project and it stops just before the 50% mark also. I tried it on my laptop that has 6,0,2 and Leopard running.

If your footage is DV, rip the DVD to DV and edit a DV timeline.

For better result use a standards convert of the PAL footage before you start. With the new FCP6 You can drop PAL footage on a NTSC and it will play it and render it out as NTSC but the result will not be as good.
Natress.com has a highly recommended standards conversion filter.

In the CONTENTS folder you have to have – (to work with FCP)
AUDIO (mxf files)
CLIP (xml files)
ICON (bmp files)
VIDEO (mxf files)The only one you don’t have listed is the CLIP files.
You may check RAYLIGHT app it can work with mxf files directly so it may be the fix you need.
BTW – it would be helpful to give as much info up front as possible. Better answers come from better description of the problem.
