So, I just got all this new equipment — a Panasonic HVX-200 and a FS-100. I’ve had the camera for about two weeks, and christmas allowed me to buy an FS-100. I got it yesterday, and with the help of a friend with the same gear, I set it up. I am having a problem.

I went to import my footage into FCP 6.0 (I have QT 7.3 — Stupid iTunes upgraded it, and I didnt know it was an issue– and there was a red exclamation mark next to my footage. After shooting and reshooting a few clips I found out that I wasn’t getting anything, no matter the format, into FCP. On a whim, and a little help from my memory, I decided to try looking at the clips in that P2CMS program. When I go to play the clips, I get an error that states the clip is has incompleteness…

I am able to get QT files when I shoot, and i would assume any other format, but the fs-100 doesnt seem to be making complete P2 files…

Has anyone else had this problem? Its a new drive. It’s running 4.0.0. Is there some setting that I am missing that would cause this problem?

    Anyone? Anything?

    Thanks,

    Billy- Newbie

What are your camera and FS100 settings?

Can you give me a better idea of what specs you’re looking for? Between the two devices, there are a ton of options…

Did you run the “organize p2” step on the FireStore before trying to import the footage? By default the FS-100 doesn’t make P2-compatible files; you HAVE to run that “organize P2” command on the FS-100 before you try to import.

Ya, I did organize P2 files. It makes the contents folder and the last clip.txt, I copy it off the drive, and I got to play it in like P2CMS and it has a red x on it and when I play the clip, P2CMS says the clip is incomplete.

This device has several critical settings, both on the camera and fs100 itself. If your settings are wrong your files will not work.

List your Record settings on the camera and all the settings on the FS100. You can get more hep if you list this info.

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while. Junk comes up…

On my camera, Under the recording setup menu:

    Rec format is 1080i/60i
    480i rec mode is dvcpro50
    Rec function is normal
One shot time is 1 f
    interal time is 2f
    Prerec mode is off
    Mic Alc is on
    Mic gain is -50 db
Mic gain is -50 db also
25m Rec Ch Sel is 2ch
    TC mode is DF
    TCG is rec run
    TC preset is —-
    Ub Mode is Frm Rate
    UB preset is —-

    On the FS-100, I’ve got:
    Record: Normal

    HDD Mode: DVCPRO HD REC

    DV FORMATS: p2

    Setup:
    V.4.0.0
    Stop no video
    Ext Ctl Off
    TC Rec Run
    TC Non Drop

    Control: Tapeless

I can produce non p2 files fine. I shot a 4 hour concert (blue grass, KILL ME!) on it fine. The problem arises when I am shooting p2 files. I’ve tried different resolutions. Is there a firmware upgrade for my camera that I need to run?

    I am lost.

I just noticed that i was running drop on the camera and non drop on the drive, I set them to the same, tried both drop and non drop on both devices and there was no change.
