Premiere is now Apple compatible. It was Adobe that dropped Apple and not the other way around. Adobe brought all of the Creative Suite back to the Mac (there are a couple of the smaller apps that are still only Windows)

Then you should not even be thinking about offering HiDef video. I don’t do weddings but I would not even think about doing a SD DVD wedding for under $2K Of course I would be doing at least 2 cameras with lav mics and editing. I bet if you did some research the average wedding video is over $2K.As with anything in the creative world people can always do a crappy job for less money, since I refuse to do crappy work (at least on propose 🙂 ) I would not try to met non-professionals pricing.

If you ARE an Event Videographer that needs to give paying clients BluRay disc it should not be hard to purchase the mac system and 3rd party BluRay drive and the Encore. You can be ready to provide BlueRay by tomorrow. Just a one or two jobs should pay for the equipment needed.
So if you have paying clients make the jump now, if you don’t you can wait.

Is Multiclip Playback checked in the RT drop-down menu on the timeline?
When you are playing the multiclip for the timeline and hit the Command-1 or 2 what does it do? Is it putting the markers down while playing and then disappearing when you stop poayback?

Most of this stuff is covered over and over again on these forums.
At this time FCP has ZEZRO BluRay support. Eventually it will, when, no one really knows.
Right now Adobe on Encore has limited BluRay function and to go to full BluRay authoring you need to plan on spending some serious bucks (+$50K).
To burn to BluRay as data disc you just need a bluray drive and Toast.

Careful, while it would be great to by pass the transfer process I would highly recommend having the footage backed up to a 2nd HD, which the log and transfer, kind of forces you to do. Trying to save a few bucks here can really come back to bit you.

My 2 cents, I think it is crazy to think you should be able to do large editing projects with JBOD, internal and external. A good array is part of the tools of the trade. Now you can get the speed you need for less but you give up redundancy, I put together 7.5TB Raid 0 systems in the 2K range. With my system I have edited 8 streams of ProRes HQ (HD) multicam so it can keep up, All things being equal I would like to get a higher end array but I also want to eat, but there is no way I would except to do my job with single Sata drives.
If you have to use multiple single drives you ready need to be editing DV25 footage and then do a final recapture of the HD footage.

In Log and Capture you can set Deck Control to non-controllable device, then you just play the tape and do a capture now. Of course no TC is captured with the footage so recapturing the tape will not work.
One other thing would be to dub the bad tape to a new tape with new TC and then capture that. Adds an hour to the process but if anything happens to your captured clips so that you need to recapture it will save you hours of frustration.

Sorry yes, don’t let compressor scare you, all it can do is make a bad file and you can just delete it if you don’t like it, it cannot hurt you, I promise.

I would edit in the HD format and then just export a down converted version of the movie.
The other would be to try a media management and down convert the footage to the SD.
Do you have the 2 different versions of the clips?
