  • Multiclip – ‘Cut to video angle’ stopped working? Help!

Posted by Harry Powell on June 23, 2008 at 8:41 pm

    Hi

Using FCP 5.0.4 and Multiclip was working great for quite a while and now it isn’t, and I cannot remember anything I have changed which might have stopped it working. I’ve searched the archives here and I couldn’t find anything.

I tried the Multiclip button bar and the keyboard number pad and clicking on each angle in the Viewer and it just won’t cut, even though both angles play back correctly in the Viewer and play back synchronously with the Timeline.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I’m losing too much time doing it ‘the long way round’ and tomorrow is my last day of editing before the next client viewing.

Other than that, Multiclip has been great!*

*Although I did have a previous problem, with losing both angles in the Viewer during playback, and which I resolved by ‘unrendering’ clips. A solution I found in the archives here, from one of you wonderful people. Thanks! You know who you are ; )

Is Multiclip Playback checked in the RT drop-down menu on the timeline?

When you are playing the multiclip for the timeline and hit the Command-1 or 2 what does it do? Is it putting the markers down while playing and then disappearing when you stop poayback?

Yes Michael, Multiclip Playback is checked in the RT drop-down menu.

When I play the multiclip from the timeline and hit the Command-1 or 2, it just stops playing every time, and does not add any markers.

Nothing happens at all when I use the Multiclip button bar, except I get the default apple alert sound during playback, and not even that when stationary.

Incidentally, although I’ve read that clips on V2 and V3 are not recommended with multiclip sequences, I have been using them with no adverse effect. Even so, I’ve just tried disabling them all, but this doesn’t seem to solve my problem.

    UPDATE – I think I’ve solved it.

Basically, I trashed prefs using FCP Rescue 5. On launch it said “Settings are corrupt! No backup”, which confused me but I selected ‘Trash’ anyway. I then repaired permission with Disk Utility – which I think I had already tried previously.

So not sure which of the above did it. Anyway, it seems to be working again.

    Thanks
