Are you coming in over the FireWire connection, SDI, or analog?
Was it shot with ADVANCED or NORNAL pulldown?
What resoluition are you capturing at?
Are these tapes the original masters or dubs?
Are you capturing from a deck or from the camera?Make sure you are in a 23.976p project for starters.

I like shooting 4:3 rather than letterbox so I can repsosition my shots later is post. There seems to be another good reason to do so with motion effects.

Use the Marquee Title Tool. Select “New Title” and select Marquee. Take it from there.

As with all specifications, it could be the way it was created or the way it is being read that could be causing the problem. What type of EDL are you creating on Media 100? Have you tried a couple different kinds? Have you tried a simple 3 straight cut version of an EDL to see what works then work you way up from there?

You need to add from the reformat section the 4:3 sidebars. It will keep the full 4:3 source aspect ratio inside the 1:9 anamorphic video. Using the Pan & Scan effect will allow you to do a tilt and scan where you need to crop the 16:9 from the 4:3 by moving the frame up and down on the original image. This will create a 16:9 anamorphic from the 4:3 source.

Because it is such a straight line, the edge is represented by a single line which is going to show up and go away based on which field you are on. When creating the motion effects, depending on the style, it will move that line around because of the fields issue. What you are doing is the best trick, create a mask that is a pixel or two greater than the interpolated motion effect.
Have you tried the FluidMotion preset for 50%?

Make it self contained and don’t use the Avid codec and see if that works. Pick another codec.

Are you looking for one that converts 60i to 24p with pulldown?
Just grain and color management?The ones used out there are Magic Bullet, Sapphire, Digital Film Tools, and Boris. All of them at different price points and capabilities depending on your needs. Most of these plug-ins have down loadable demo versions for you to try.
I have Sapphire, Digital Film Tools, and Boris and will jump back and forth between them depending on the look I am trying to achieve. I also combine it with the color correction to get the overall look I am going after.

You can always take the sequence and put it into its own bin. Set bin display to show only master clips and reference clips. The bin will now only show master clips used in the sequence. Highlight all the clips and export as TAB from the bin with all the heading you need.
Create EDL with clip names as comments.
You now have a cross reference using the clip name as the common link. You most likely can create a database in FileMaker Pro or other to merge that information as needed.
