Yes, if the entire span of the clip is moved, it will stay rendered. If any dependent relationships are changed during that move, it will need to be re-rendered.

For color space, it is referring to the source. If you select RGB, it assumes that color space on source and maps/converts to REC601/709. If you select 601/709 it assumes you know the source is that and won’t touch any of the values. The target is always REC601/709 in the system.

SD NTSC when working 2:1 is a 720 x 486 format. DV may have the ability to do 720×480 which is why you’re seeing the difference.

Transcode a small piece to DV and see if anything changes.

In Full Screen Play settings you can set up how you want the left and right eyes to be displayed – interlace or checkerboard. Then, over the DVI on the graphics card we go to monitors that support that format – Hyundai, JVC, and consumer monitors like Samsung and Mitshubishi that are “3D Ready” using active glasses.

I do not beleive there is support for nVidia 3D.

Unfortunately there isn’t at this time. It has been a feature request to allow “same name” to be used as part of the AutoSync process.

I have sped up the process by making the AutoSync menu item a button, then after selecting the pair, hitting the button and return. Adds a little efficiency but not the same as doing them all as a batch.

Software encoding is what is taking the time. I believe that Sorenson 6 has optimized transcode times as well as use more cores which speeds things up. I do the same workflow you do – But I use Carbon Coder from Rhozet for encoding – a near real time encoder from HD master to SD, with nice REC709 to REC601 color space conversion. Great quality, but not cheap.

I capture DV24 over FireWire all the time as 14:1 – it gets decompressed in Avid to uncompressed, then captured as 14:1. A fast enough CPU should do the same for other resolutions…

Try “relink to selected” as long as the tape name and timecodes match, you should be good.

For SD? If so, transcode to NTSC 23.875 and you can output to both PAL and NTSC.
