    Hey there,

does anyone know a way to capture DV PAL as 3:1 MXF? I’ve treid an online search, unfortunately no result..

I’m tapelogging for a project that uses other media than DV PAL aswell, and the main editor whishes to have everything delivered as 3:1 MXF.

    thanks in advance! L.

Depends what deck you are coming from, if over Firewire just change your capture tool to DNA-1394 FW, you go to straight that res. If your deck has SDI out go that way. FW can be a bit of a pain.

If you are bringing in the media by capturing an SDI source into Mojo, Mojo SDI, Mojo DX, Nitris or Nitris DX, you can simply select that resolution.

If you are bringing in that footage over FireWire, you are actually capturing the DV-stream, so you cannot choose anything but that same type of resolution.

You can mix DV25 with 3:1 MXF if you want. But if you feel you need to have those clips in a different resolution, select all captured clips, and choose Transcode. Then transcode the files into 3:1 MXF.

I capture DV24 over FireWire all the time as 14:1 – it gets decompressed in Avid to uncompressed, then captured as 14:1. A fast enough CPU should do the same for other resolutions…
