  • My guess is a mismatch in sample rate which doesn’t affect preview but it can’t sample rate convert on the fly when the clip is in the timeline. Look at the clip details to see if the sample rate matches your sequence. Personally I would convert the clip to be wav and matching the sample rate of the project which should be 48khz

It’s in the tracking window on the Color page. Resolve does and excellent job tracking a mask so you might not need to keyframe but if you want to adjust a tracked mask, change the tracker from clip to frame and just make adjustments on the frame you want. It automatically places a keyframe when you adjust in frame mode.

You can also set and delete keyframes manually. The tools are at the bottom of the tracking graph.

  • Great. Glenn’s technique would also work very well but it’s good to get your head around adjustment clips and the extra options they can give you.

  • You can apply a grade to an adjustment clip. Just select it. If you cant then make sure the track is enabled

  • A simple way to do this is add an adjustment layer above your clip in the timeline. Add a grade to the adjustment layer which is your sepia B&W. Then fade the adjustment layer in to the point where you want it to be full sepia B&W. The clip underneath has it’s full colour grade. This is also a really easy way to adjust the start and end of the change to sepia B&W without mucking around with keyframes. You can even tweak the opacity to allow a little bit of color through and all sorts of other fun with blend modes. People often forget how powerful adjustment layers above graded clips can be.

December 31, 2021 at 12:34 am in reply to: What is “Critical Exception?”

It can be a number of issues which is why the warning includes advice to contact BM and submit a report. Creating a new database is something I do periodically and I’ve not had this issue, so it may be you don’t have the correct permissions, depending on the OS you operate and the level you are logged in as. Just a guess, but it is best to contact BlackMagic and get feedback when they can read (and understand) the error log you partially show in your image.

December 31, 2021 at 12:29 am in reply to: keep Da Vinci from scanning audio plugins

You can set in preferences the folders that Resolve scans for audio plugins. You might want to limit the plugins you use by copying a smaller group to a single folder so Resolve only looks and loads those plugins you want to enable. Once you have done that, if you have moved the license you can remove that folder in preferences and easily add it back when the license is available or in the next panel down, disable all then enable all when the license is available. This will require reboot of resolve but it will stop constant scanning
