First rule in doing titles in FCP is DON’T use FCP’s title generator. You should always use Title3D in the Boris generators tab. When you do use that tool you’ll see all kinds of outline, shadow, color, bevel, gradient, etc options.

Another bug I found the other day relates to BCC4’s Chroma Key filter. You can’t have the playback setting on “Unlimited RT”. You have to set it to “Safe RT” for the filter to work. Otherwise you get a black background instead of your b.g. layer.

I solved my BCC4 Chroma Key issue as well. Apparently if you have FCP’s playback control set to “Unlimited RT” the Keyer doesn’t work. If you set it to “Safe RT” the Keyer decides to work. This may also be true of other BCC4 filters.

I’m having the exact same problem you are Vince. Working in FCP 5.1.2. I got it to work yesterday somehow, but today I only see black on my keyed subject, not the b.g. layer. I haven’t been able to figure out what I did to get it working yesterday. When I ran FCP today I was forced to delete the FCP Object Cache pref file in order to even get the BCC filter parameters to work again. Have no idea what changed from one day to the next. Now that I have the parameters working again the Keyer won’t work. Pulling my hair out on this project. To be honest, BCC hasn’t worked reliably since FCP 5 came out over a year ago.

The 4.01 updated worked for me for about a day then I was forced to delete the FCP Object Cache file again, and again to keep it working. However, the BCC4.01 Chroma Keyer now only shows black in the keyed out space instead of the layer below it as it should. Shots that I keyed out yesterday within the same project still continue to work however. I’m afraid to touch those for fear that the plug-in will break yet again.
Glad it’s working for you however. Don’t sneeze, BCC4 might go belly up on you again.

The fan is on by default. The manaul doesn’t specify under what conditions you would want the fan on or off. I’ve always kept mine off on the LH1700, and I’ve turned off the fan on my new LH2600.

Unfortunately, it removes ALL filter on your clips. There is no way to select only the TC Generator filter. If this isn’t a problem then great.

Your audio is embedded in the SDI steam. Take a look at the Kona control panel for your audio selection. It would seem that you have never used a Kona card before, let alone worked with HD. I would highly advise against changing your capture preset to such an odd frame size. You’ll make your life miserable when you go back to recapture. All your motion adjustments will be out of whack. Just offline using the DVCProHD codec. There should have been a PDF manual that came with the Kona card. I would suggest reading that and getting a bit more familiar with the hardware before you proceed too much farther. You are making some assumptions that could really cost you in the long run.

MPEG4 should work fine on a PC with QT 6. Preferably however would be H.264 in which case the PC would need QT7. Most every other codec you see listed in QT should work fine under QT6. MPEG1, MPEG2, Animation, PhotoJPEG, M-JPEG etc.
